In the spring of 2015 the studio Wit Studio released the new anime series titled Seraph of the End (Owari no Seraph) about the war between humans and vampires. The subject, of course, is nothing new. Once, an unknown virus has infected all people who were older than 13 years old. Immediately there were vampires everywhere who captured all surviving children and used them literally as livestock by milking those children for blood. The main character in Seraph of the End, Yūichirō Hyakuya, has a personal score to settle with vampires. He, along with other children from the Hyakuya Orphanage, was once captured by vampires. The boys eventually found a way to escape, but it turned out to be a trap. In the end, only Yuichiro managed to survive because all other children were brutally murdered. That is why the boy is eager to take revenge, and this desire of his is being cleverly abused by people who survived the virus, who, under the leadership of a local aristocratic family, organized a resistance army outside the walls of the vampire towns.
As it turned out, the virus did not infect everyone, and outside the vampire cities there are empty destroyed villages and settlements where Resistance Army fighters (better known as "Moon Demon Company") are carrying out guerrilla operations.
The anime series Seraph of the End (Owari no Seraph) is quite dramatic, where both humans and vampires are presented in a bad light, and where most main characters are not depicted only in black or white. The army of people, like vampires, is also divided into castes, and behind with the pompous declarations about the fight against vampires there is a covert struggle for power. There is no unity among vampires either, and, luckily, not all of them treat humans as animals.
Seraph of the End premiered in Japan on April 4, 2015 on Tokyo MX, MBS, TV Aichi, and BS11, and it will consist of 24 episodes.
