The seventh season of The Good Wife was ordered on May 11, 2015 by CBS. It premiered on October 4, 2015 on CBS.
The much acclaimed "The Good Wife" Season 7 is just days away from premiering and this time, viewers have a whole new list of characters to look forward to. The new characters all seem to be added to create tension and to set up 'face-offs' between some of the main cast and season regulars.
Peter Florrick, played by the charming yet devious Chris Noth, is now running for President and he hires a new campaign strategist Ruth Eastman, to be played by Margo Martindale. This will create tension between her and the current campaign strategist and Chief of Staff Eli Gold, played by award-winning actor, Alan Cumming. In fact, Alan Cumming himself states that because of this "Eli's head will explode" by the stress and tension he has to hold on to his post.
According to Deadline.com, Alan Cumming says that in Season 7 of "The Good Wife", he will be "opening up a can of whoop-ass." He continues, "Eli's head explodes in Season 7, but not in the way you all may think. The episodes we've shot so far are the most fun I've had playing him in all seven seasons."
Cush Jumbo will be brought in as Attorney Lucca Quinn. She will play rivals to Alicia and both will compete for clients seeking release on bail in bond court.
Rumors had been circulating since a while that Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be joining the cast of "The Good Wife" Season 7 and it was not confirmed as to which character he will be playing. Now it is confirmed that he will be brought in as Investigator Jason Crouse, a cool and calm character who will help Alicia in her newly created law firm. Speculations are on that this will create a love interest between Alicia and Jason. This should further add tension to the Alicia-Peter relationship.
Michael J. Fox will continue as Louis Canning, adding more drama. Jane Curtin, the Saturday Night Live favourite will be back as Judge Farley.
Christine Baranski says, "We have marvelous new actors and they stand to make a huge contribution and freshen up the show. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Peter Gallagher are two guys on the show, we needed some male energy in the mix, and of course Margo Martindale and this marvelous young actress Cush Jumbo–I think they're all just completely different and a wonderful contribution."
