In the mid-1990s, university art majors Xu Lai (Xu Zheng) and Yang Yi (Du Juan) fell in love, but before their first kiss Yang transferred to the Chinese University of Hong Kong and would never come back. Almost twenty years later, Xu has lost his hair, cannot get his wife Cai Bo (Zhao Wei) pregnant, and instead of realizing a painting career, is stuck with designing bras for Cai Bo's family business. During a vacation in Hong Kong with the Cai family, Xu is determined to meet Yang again, but he must shed Cai Bo's immature young brother Cai Lala (Bao Bei'er), who carries a video camera and tags along like his unwelcome shadow. Meanwhile in Hong Kong, Wong Jing is filming another riotous gangster movie while 2 police officers (Sam Lee and Eric Kot) investigate a murder.
