"The Musketeers” Season 1 has just ended. However, fans and viewers of the swashbuckling show need not fear as it will be back in action for a second season in 2015. Read on to learn more about this story.
Based on the pictures from the official Twitter account of the show, Santiago Cabrera (Aramis), Howard Charles (Porthos), Tom Burke (Athos), Luke Pasquilano (D’Artagnan), Ryan Gage (King Louis XIII), Alexandra Dowling (Queen Anne), Maimie McCoy (Milady de Winter), Tamla Kari (Constance Bonacieux) and Hugo Speer (Captain Treville) will all be back for more swashbuckling adventures in the second season of “The Musketeers.”
However, there will be some cast members that will no longer be part of the show.
According to the Radio Times, actor Tom Burke, who portrays Athos, has said that Cardinal Richelieu (Peter Capaldi) will be dead come Season 2. This makes perfect sense as Peter Capaldi is currently the Twelfth Doctor on the cult science fiction BBC show “Doctor Who.”
Instead, the new nemesis of the musketeers is the handsome Comte de Rochefort, who will be portrayed by Marc Warren (“Mad Dogs,” “The Good Wife“). In the novel, the Comte is one of the Cardinal’s spies. However, according to the BBC website, the Comte will be a man with many secrets and a dark past. It is he who will plotting things in the second season, and in the end, only the Musketeers and their allies will be standing in his way in “a desperate act that will change all their lives forever.”
Actor Colin Salmon (“24:Live Another Day,” “Arrow“) and actress Antonia Thomas (“Misfits”) and will also join the cast, as reported by The Mirror UK. Colin Thomas will be portraying a character named Tariq, a Spanish man on the run, accompanied by his daughter, Samara, who will be portrayed by Antonia Thomas.
In a report from to Spoiler TV, actress Marianne Oldham (“The Crimson Field”) has also joined the cast. However, it is unclear what exactly her role will be. What is known so far is that she tweeted that she had to learn how to lace a corset, so it is probable that she could either be a maid, a lady in waiting or a noble woman.
Actor Richard Mulholland (“Miss Potter”) has briefly joined the cast, as he filmed with the cast for only three days.
Lastly, Queen Anne was dressed in black, and she was not sporting a baby bump. However, it seemed as if King Louis XIII was not wearing mourning clothes at all.
And that’s it for the spoilers on “The Musketeers” Season 2. For more news and updates on “The Musketeers” and other television shows, keep following Movie News Guide (MNG).
