In Tokyo, Attorney Takuya Kasahara (Hideaki Ito) defends Hiroto Arimura (Tokio Emoto). He is charged with serial rape and murder which carries a death sentence. Attorney Takuya Kasahara helps Hiroto receive a not guilty charge. The victims' families and the media are outraged by Attorney Takuya Kasahara, but he states coldly "... the verdict is based on the law. You should blame the law."
Meanwhile, Attorney Masashi Kusunose (Kenichi Takito) excused himself from the case, because he could not forgive Hiroto Arimura's lack of guilt. Attorney Masashi Kusunose now feels complex emotions.
At that time, a baking company, which is part of a conglomerate led by Kenzo Haneda (Tatsuya Nakadai), has a fatal case caused by allergy. The company asks Attorney Takuya Kasahara to defend them.
