Bobby talks to J.R.'s grave, enjoying the win over Cliff Barnes. He looks at the graves of all his family and prepares to become the caretaker of Southfork.
At the Omni Hotel, John Ross wakes up in bed with Emma. They roll around in legal papers until they uncover Harris Ryland's power of attorney. With Emma as CEO, John Ross wants use of Ryland's ice breaking ships and transports for use by Ewing Energy.
At work, Bum checks that John Ross can handle Emma. He assures Bum he won't jeopardize things with Pamela. Bum gives him one last thing from J.R. -- his belt buckle.
At Southfork, John Ross has Pamela meet him under the stars at night. He tells her he had to go to Houston to get her the biggest diamond in Texas. He gives her a rock the size of an ice cube and gets down on one knee for a real proposal.
The next morning, John Ross has plans to renovate Southfork according to J.R.'s old blue prints. Bobby doesn't think it's necessary, but since Miss Ellie gave John Ross half of Southfork there's nothing he can do to stop it.
Out on the grounds, Christopher works out his anger at Elena by chopping wood. He calls her but misses her.
Elena is down in Mexico after meeting with Cliff Barnes and learning that J.R. swindled her father out of his land.
She goes to see Cliff again. She has confirmed what J.R. said. She agrees to be Cliff's proxy at Barnes Global. Cliff wants Elena to prove that the Ewings framed him for J.R.'s murder, including getting the waitress Ronda to lie and stealing his gun from the gun range. After the Ewings kicked her out of the company she helped start and stole her oil leases, Elena is ready to go after them. "I am not thinking of this as revenge, I am thinking of this as justice," she says.
Christopher packs up his chopped wood and hears a female ranch hand chewing out another ranch hand giving her attitude. Christopher goes over and introduces himself and enjoys what he sees.
Sue Ellen drops in on John Ross and tries to encourage him to use a soft touch with Bobby and not stir things up.
Over iced tea, Pamela sits down with Sue Ellen and Ann to get started on wedding planning. Sue Ellen assures Pamela she won't be the first woman to have multiple weddings at Southfork. Emma joins them and tries to share her enthusiasm about the wedding, despite having just slept with the bride's husband.
Elena arrives. She offers her profound apology for all the lies when she was trying to help her brother. Christopher asks to talk to her.
She tells Christopher she needed to clear her head. He apologizes for not trying to hear her side and tells her he wants to make things work between them. She reminds him he threw her out of his hotel room. She tells him they're both broken and need time to mend on their own first.
She's planning to leave Southfork, but he encourages her to stay.
Carmen stops by her daughter's house. She tells him Cliff Barnes is just bitter and she wasted a trip down there. Her adopted brother Joaquin has taken Drew in and Drew sent a letter with Elena for their mother. Elena reminds Carmen that the Ewings are still after Drew.
At the new Ewing Global, John Ross, Bobby, Sue Ellen, Christopher, and Pamela discuss their plans to bid for arctic gas and methane leases. With a deal for Ryland's ice breaking ships they're able to put in a real bid. They need to raise half a billion to get in the auction and plan to raise the money by selling Barnes Global's consumer division.
Elena joins them. She asks for a job. Christopher welcomes her immediately.
Left alone, Elena starts sifting through company files.
She calls Cliff Barnes in prison to report her progress.
Later in the day, Bobby reports that Con Agra is interested in their consumer division and is putting together a bid. They're interrupted by a young man who introduces himself as Nicolas Trevino, Cliff Barnes' proxy. Cliff still owns a third of Barnes Global. According to state law, they can't sell off any of the company without a super majority, which the Ewings don't have.
After Trevino leaves, they scramble. Pamela confirms Cliff made Trevino his proxy and the super majority is a real thing. He's a "Mexican billionaire financier tycoon" who got rich young in part by selling generic drugs to Mexican pharmacies after making is first money at the track.
Christopher tells Elena to talk to Ocean Energy Management and see if they'll push back the arctic drilling auction.
In the room with just John Ross and Bobby, Christopher worries that Trevino and Barnes might be able to prove he was framed. Bobby assures them that he, Bum, and Carlos del Sol made sure there were no loose ends.
Later at Southfork, Emma messages John Ross to drop by her room later. When Pamela comes home, Emma thanks her for being so nice, then she gets back to propositioning Pamela's husband online.
The next day, Elena reports that the arctic auction can't be moved. John Ross has a suggestion: the shale under Southfork has risen to the top and will be easy to access, so Bobby can't object to drilling them. Elena says the arctic leases are the holy grail and she'll do anything to help get them.
John Ross and Sue Ellen meet Bobby and Christopher out on Southfork, where John Ross explains that with the shale rise he can access it with his surface rights -- not the mineral rights that Bobby and Gary control. Bobby tells him point blank there will be no drilling on Southfork.
Christopher points out they'd have to frack and it would shut down their cattle operation. He urges Bobby and John Ross not to turn against each other and says they'll come up with a way to work with Trevino. John Ross doesn't think they have the time if they want to be able to get the arctic rights.
Bobby is angry and warns John Ross he'll stop him, just like he stopped J.R., "and you're not half the man he was."
Later at night, John Ross pays a visit to Emma, telling her he needs her ice breaking ships and tankers for the arctic deal. She wants him in return and he's only too happy to pay.
Later, as he's leaving her bedroom, Sue Ellen sees her son kissing Emma good night. She warns John Ross to be reasonable with Bobby. John Ross explains Emma is the one he made the tanker deal with and she has more power than she realizes with Ryland Transport with her dad in jail.
Meanwhile, in jail, Harris Ryland goes a little stir crazy. Then he's released in the middle of the night, to his Mexican drug dealer connections, who paid for his freedom. They caution him to get his trucks running again quickly or they'll go after Emma.
Mexico Elena goes to visit Joaquin at his palatial estate -- it's Nicolas Trevino. He greets his sister and reminds her his name has been Nicolas for decades now. Her father was the only one he ever knew, and he reminds her of how J.R. swindled him and robbed him of his will to live.
Barnes gave Nicolas use of one of his penthouses so he'll be moving to Dallas for as long as Elena needs him. He's still wearing the necklace she gave him as a boy. He promises her they'll get justice for their family.
