Through the characters, drama series follows various cultural events in 1994, including the emergence of Kpop group "Seo Taiji and Boys" and the Korean Basketball League.

Six young students from Jeolla Province, Chungcheong Province, Gyeongsang Province room together at a boarding house while attending a university in Seoul. The boarding house is run by a couple (Sung Dong-il, Lee Il-hwa) with a daughter (Go Ara).

Reply 1994 follows the pop culture events of that year, including the emergence of seminal K-pop group Seo Taiji and Boys and the Korean Basketball League.
