In this season, 10 ultimate Survivor fans square off against 10 of their favorite players from the past in the Camaroan Islands!
The Bik al Tribe (Favorites) and the Gota Tribe (Fans) are set to compete in SURVIVOR: CARAMOAN – FANS vs. FAVORITES when the twenty-sixth installment of the Emmy Award-winning reality series premieres with a special two-hour edition, Wednesday, February 13 (8:00 – 10:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
We're introduced to the "stunning paradise" and "dangerous wilderness" that is the Caramoan Islands. It's another round of "Fans vs. Favorites," and first impressions are already forming as the "fans" head toward the island on a boat. But flying overhead are the "favorites," including Malcolm, Cochran, Dawn, Brenda, Erik a fan from the first "Fans vs. Favorites," who gave up his immunity and was tossed and Brandon, who also gave up immunity and was ousted. Andrea, who flirted her way out of the game and Corrine. Also returning are Phillip and Francesca, who became enemies the first time they played the game.
The fans are excited to see Cochran and Dawn come off first. Corrine and Andrea get less of a reaction. Erik gets a mild reaction. Malcolm gets almost no reaction (possibly because his season might have been airing while this one was shot), but 23-year-old Hope seems to take a particular interest in him. Brenda comes off and a couple of the fan girls say, "She's so dangerous." Brandon gets an, "Oh my God, that's Russell's nephew!" Francesca gets little reaction, and Phillip is greeted with, "Oooooh."
The Fans are "Gota" and the Favorites are "Bikal." Jeff starts things with a challenge. Two members from each tribe have to run into the water to retrieve a ring. They will have to work together to get back to their flag pole with their ring while the other tribe tries to stop them in any way they can. The first tribe to do this four times wins fire and 20 pounds of beans, which the other tribe will not have.
Phillip is already down to his pink briefs. The first round is Erik and Dawn vs. Julia and Shamar. Erik gets the ring quickly, but tosses it ahead to Dawn, who can't grab it before Julia. Julia leaves it for Shamar, who is a big fella and holds skinny Erik off on his way to the flag pole. Fans are up 1-0.
For the second round, Hope and Eddie take on Brandon and Andrea. Eddie grabs the ring and heaves it ahead for Hope who tangles with Andrea. Eventually, all four players have a hand on the ring as they move in a group. Brandon pushes the whole group and Andrea touches the pole to tie it up.
Sherri and Michael vs. Brenda and Phillip go next. Michael grabs the ring and Phillip goes right after Michael, eventually pulling Michael by the legs toward the Favorites' pole, then grabbing the ring and touching the pole to give the Favorites a 2-1 lead.
Matt and Laura versus Cochran and Francesca in the fourth round. No one runs toward the ring, but Cochran stays behind to work against Laura while Francesca goes and muscles up on Matt. Francesca pulls the whole group toward the Favorites ring and gives her team a 3-1 lead.
Corrine and Malcolm next take on Reynold and Allie. Reynold races to the ring and he and Malcolm battle furiously. Malcolm's shorts fall almost completely off but he battles to get his team to the pole and a victory. They get flint and 20 pounds of beans.
Gota camp: Shamar is disappointed to have lost the first challenge. They're happy to find rice and a machete at camp. Shamar and Reynold realize the need to make fire right away. Matt says shelter is as important as fire. Shamar says Matt and Eddie are burning energy on stuff that isn't needed. Shamar says they need fire. Matt tells us he's frustrated because Shamar hasn't done anything. Reynold tells us he's worried about a lack of camaraderie in camp. Shamar yells at Matt to "shut up, stop talking." Things are off to a rocky start.
Bikal camp: Malcolm is worried about making a good first impression among the Favorites because he's "the new kid on the block." Phillip tells us that he's "ready." Brandon and Erik get to work on a shelter. Francesca tells us she stands by her first impression of Phillip as "a crazy person." Dawn, Andrea and Francesca start talking about alliances, thinking about bringing in Cochran, Brandon and Phillip but they all laugh at the idea of adding Phillip. Francesca tells us she has to prove she can actually play the game because her first experience was so short. She goes to Phillip and tells him she was "never gunning" for him. He says nothing, then tells us he "buried the hatchet" with her and that she's stuck in a time warp. Then he tells us "she annoys me greatly." Finally, he tells her, "today we're on the same team." She plays along. She then tells us that if she's voted off first again, she will eat a rock.
Back at Gota: Shamar is still sitting silently while others try to build the fire. He tells us he's waiting to see what they're doing wrong. Finally he swoops in. Shamar and Michael seesaw a large branch and get the fire going. It's all smiles and high fives. Matt is extremely happy, as well, and goes over to "smooth things over" with Shamar, telling us that sometimes you have to give a guy the benefit of the doubt.
Back at Bikal: They're all eating eating rice and Phillip is happy. He tells us "this is going to be a good game." He tells us he's created "The BR (Boston Rob) Rules," which he learned from the show's biggest name. They are: Get in an alliance, get in an alliance within the alliance, and then get rid of your alliance before they get rid of you. Also, you don't owe anybody anything. He goes to Corrine, then tells her he wants to add Malcolm and Andrea. He tells Corrine her name is "Domantrix." He gives Andrea her nickname: The Eliminator. Corrine talks to Malcolm, who is in. Phillip says he wants Dawn in, as well. Phillip then says he's going to stay in the background, "the undercover brother." Phillip goes to Cochran and labels him "The Intelligencia Attaché." He's recruited six people, and then goes to Erik and tells him he doesn't need to bring him in, but he will. He tells Erik he needs to trust him 100 percent. Phillip tries to cover his role as the leader, but Erik doesn't like Phillip's "you're with me or against me" approach, telling us "he's a combative idiot loser who makes everybody crazy."
Back at Gota: Eddie and Reynold are chatting about how they've got targets on their backs and tell each other that they trust one another. Reynold and Allie also get together and he vows to take her to the final two. Reynold tells us he chose Allie because "she's not the cutest, she's just there and cool and likable."
That night, Eddie and Hope start talking while looking at the stars. Eddie tells us that he and Hope are the two best looking people there, "that's just how it is." They start talking about bringing Allie in, as well.
Laura notices that, while everyone was snuggling for body warmth, Reynold and Allie were a little cozier than the rest. She says that's "not a smart move romantic alliances do not work on 'Survivor,' you're going to get targeted right away."
Bikal camp: It's a hot morning and Cochran isn't digging it. He's already tremendously sunburned and his feet are swollen. He laughs with Corrine about how he can't move and he might actually die if they had a challenge right then. He's trying to laugh it off and show more confidence and swagger than he did last time.
Gota camp: Reynold, Eddie, Allie and Hope are in the water chatting about how they're connected. Reynold realizes that "a lot is communicated by the cuddle." They realize that they've re-created the "cool kid lunch table" from high school and Eddie says he doesn't think anybody else is going to be at their tale.
Back on the sand, Sherri and some others talk about how the couple thing is "very dangerous." Julia, Sherri, Laura and Michael all shake hands and agree they're in it together, but Michael tells us he's keeping his options open.
Later, Matt and Michael connect a bit and Michael tells Matt about the "circle of ladies," then tells him he's open to aligning with him.
Immunity challenge: Jeff notices Cochran and says he has the worst sunburn he's ever seen on "Survivor."
The teams will race in pairs up a four-story tower. On each floor there will be three crates filled with sand bags. They will throw the crates over the side of the tower. The remaining pair will have to toss the sand bags into six targets. The first team to finish wins immunity.
Cochran and Phillip give the Favorites a little lead, but Francesca and Corrine fall behind a little. It's neck and neck after the third pairs, but Allie delays the Fans a bit.
Malcolm and Dawn race to collect sand bags before the Fans. Malcolm scores three bags in their targets before the Fans even start tossing. Reynold catches up for the Fans, though, then takes a 5-3 lead. Malcolm gets one more in, but Reynold nails the sixth target and the Fans win immunity and flint.
Back at Bikal: Francesca thinks it was just bad luck that they lost. She and Cochran start talking strategy, and think they could vote out Phillip. Francesca then tells us she doesn't really trust Corrine. Cochran says his rapport with everyone on the tribe is the "aloe" to his sunburn. Francesca tells Brandon they should vote out Phillip unless he and others have a different idea. Andrea is in this group, but tells us that Francesca is "tricky" because she hasn't talked to her in a while. Andrea tells us that she thinks she has more loyal people in her alliance with Phillip, so she goes and tells him that Francesca is plotting to vote him out. He's not surprised and is giddy to turn the tables on Francesca and vote her out first again.
Erik and Brandon chat in the water and discuss voting out Phillip. Erik tells Brandon about Phillip's "you're with me or you're dead" speech. Brandon goes to Francesca and tells her Erik is on board, but that Phillip had told Erik he has numbers. Francesca is now confused. She then tells us that going home first twice "would be the worst thing ever."
Dawn and Cochran talk again and she tells him she needs "one good person to trust." He tells us he wasn't sure how Dawn would react to him because he "kind of screwed her" last time. He then cracks himself up by telling us that Dawn's more cut-throat strategy of taking out Francesca, whom she says she likes, might demonstrate that "this is a new Dawn." Dawn commits to working together.
Francesca talks to Dawn, Brandon, Andrea and Erik about splitting the vote between Phillip and Corrine. She's worried now that Phillip has an idol.
Brandon talks to Brenda and Dawn about how Andrea knows about splitting the vote. Brandon doesn't trust Andrea at all. Erik and Brandon are getting a "really weird vibe" from Andrea. Erik tells Francesca that they should vote Andrea without telling anyone. Francesca says she trusts Cochran. She thinks she's now out of time to do anything and they now "might get totally screwed."
Tribal Council: Jeff asks Brandon if anyone is running the tribe and he says "we're all kind of chiefs." Jeff then brings up Francesca and Phillip's infamous feud. Phillip then admits that he knows how to say Francesca's name but said it wrong intentionally last time. He tells Phillip that last time, Francesca was too strategic too early and that made him not trust her. Francesca says Jeff's referencing her short time on the show last time makes it sound like she's "bad at 'Survivor.'" Jeff notes that she said that, not him.
Phillip says paranoia sets in when you hear your name bounced around. He says he's heard his name mentioned.
Francesca writes down Andrea's name and calls it "a vote out of paranoia, but just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you." Andrea writes down Francesca, saying, "You're going to be so upset with me, but you're getting voted out first again because you are a huge threat."
Jeff goes to tally the votes and asks for anyone to reveal a hidden immunity idol. No one does.
The vote: Andrea, Andrea, Andrea, Francesca, Francesca, Francesca, Andrea, Francesca, Francesca and the first person voted out is Francesca.
Andrea giggles briefly with relief. Brandon looks confused. Andrea whispers, "Thanks, you guys," to her cohorts.
Francesca's last words: "I cannot believe I got voted out first again. I mean, I'm not going to, like, cry about it. But I did make 'Survivor' history, and the good thing about being voted out first again is I know how to deal with being voted out first. And, you know, I guess I'm not cut out for 'Survivor.' It's over, it's done, so I'm no longer going for Favorites. Now I'm going for the Fans."
