　　昭和２７年函館。美月（志田）は恋人の籐一郎（満島）と並んで市電を待っていた。だが美月の乗り込んだ電車には籐一郎の姿はなかった。慌てて街中を捜し回る美月だったが、その時を境に、籐一郎は行方知れずになってしまった……。
　　それから５０年――。東京で会社を経営する李恵（夏川）は、恋人（斉藤）に裏切られ、地元の函館に帰還し、余命わずかな母・美月（十朱）と暮らし始める。ある日、母からかつての恋人・籐一郎を捜して欲しいと頼まれ、その切なる願いに当時の100通もの恋文を紐解き、捜索を開始する。ところがバーで出会った古賀（安田）に「自分の意思で失踪したはずだ」と冷酷に言われてしまう。李恵は幾度も挫けそうになるのだが、命を賭して懇願する母の熱情に、最後の親孝行だと自らを奮い立たせる。
　　やがて、籐一郎の足跡を知る人物達が現れ、時空を超えて籐一郎と母の実像が炙り出されて行く。
　　そして物語は、余りにもセツナクも残酷な驚愕の真実の終末へと向かって行くのだった……。
