The murder of a Petty Officer is linked to another death and the Director's decision to break up Gibbs's team. Gibbs and Director work together to unravel the mystery.
Gibbs has been working with a new field team for 126 days, Abby 'demands' her mates back. Missing petty officer Steven N. Vargo, top clearance at Strategic Planning, is found dead in his rented trailer. He was shot with exclusive federal ammo. His mate, NCO vet Brian Duane Roberts, is killed in a Moroccan bomb blast, where Ziva was also wounded as a Mossad anti-terrorist undercover agent. She was tipped off that Roberts was meeting a Chechen terrorist by director Vance, who only now tells Gibbs that he broke up his team because Vargo tipped him he was blackmailed by an NCIS agent, one of Gibbs's three 'recruit' Special Agents. McGee's present encryption job proves handy. Tony is dying to get off his job at sea.
